Incredible India – Jaipur (Part 1)

In continuation from my previous posting, my India trip was amazing. I also went to Jaipur, a city where the architecture is simply amazing.

Well Jaipur (Rajasthani: जैपर Hindi: जयपुर) [ˈdʒəjpʊɾ] ( listen), also popularly known as the Pink City, is the capital and largest city of the Indian state of Rajasthan. Founded on 18 November 1727 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, the ruler of Amber, the city today has a population of more than 3.1 million.

The very structure of Jaipur resembles the taste of the Rajputs and the Royal families. At present, Jaipur is a major business centre with all requisites of a metropolitan city. The city is remarkable among pre-modern Indian cities for the width and regularity of its streets which are laid out into six sectors separated by broad streets 111 ft (34 m) wide. The urban quarters are further divided by networks of gridded streets. Five quarters wrap around the east, south, and west sides of a central palace quarter, with a sixth quarter immediately to the east.

The Palace quarter encloses a sprawling palace complex, (Hawa Mahal), formal gardens, and a small lake. Nahargarh Fort, which was the residence of the King Sawai Jai Singh II, crowns the hill in the northwest corner of the old city. The observatory, Jantar Mantar, is one of the World Heritage Sites.[1] Jaipur is a popular tourist destination in Rajasthan and India.Excerpt from Wikipedia.

Incredible India – New Delhi (Part 1)

Last month I had the chance to finally go to one the country that I always wanted to visit. India, is one the biggest countries in the Asian continent. It is the seventh-largest country by geographical area, the second-most populous country with over 1.2 billion people, and the most populous democracy in the world. Bounded by the Indian Ocean on the south, the Arabian Sea on the south-west, and the Bay of Bengal on the south-east, it shares land borders with Pakistan to the west; the People’s Republic of China, Nepal, and Bhutan to the north-east; and Burma and Bangladesh to the east. In the Indian Ocean, India is in the vicinity of Sri Lanka and the Maldives; in addition, India’s Andaman and Nicobar Islands share a maritime border with Thailand and Indonesia.

India is one place where cultures, language, customs and color are plentiful. My journey was to the northern part of India. I visited three places which was Delhi, Jaipur and Agra. This is the shots I took when I was in Delhi :
